Hello!

My name is Javid G.

I grew up in a small provincial town of Ganja, which is located in the west of Azerbaijan. I am not sure that you have ever heard about my hometown – maybe you have no images of imagination about my country, Azerbaijan, located on the other side of the world in relation to the United States.

Nevertheless, I have been given the chance to travel to the U.S. to participate in Camp Rising Sun. Being accepted to Camp Rising Sun took me a lot of effort. The American Council in Azerbaijan have been informing students about CRS for the past years, and many of my friends also applied to attend the program. Being accepted to Camp Rising Sun is a very unique opportunity for me to meet people from all around the world. I am grateful to the Louis August Jonas Foundation for creating such an opportunity for us all!

Unfortunately, for many Azerbaijani families, including mine, the amount required to cover the airfare is high. The wealth in Azerbaijan is distributed very unfairly, and the main wealth of the country belongs to a very small part of the population, without a sense of philanthropy. This is why I am asking for your help!

Your donations towards covering the cost of my airfare will help my dream come true – to participate in Camp Rising Sun. I am a grateful person by nature, and I will greatly appreciate the charity that you show me. Someday, I hope to benefit another young person who will need my help in achieving their dreams.
