Hi!

My name is Can Demirkol and I have been chosen to participate in the Camp Rising Sun.

I was very fortunate to be one of the 65 campers to be selected throughout the world. I’m from Turkey which has a very rich culture. During my early childhood, I lived in Dubai for 5 years where I made a lot of friends from all over the world. I got to know many new cultures and many new people while I also shared my culture with others. I have many hobbies such as playing the violin and the drums, building robots, gardening and traveling to new places for which I write a travel blog. I’m also a part of my school’s MUN club which helped me to become a more confident person. I have a very supportive family whom I’m grateful for, which consists of my parents, a younger brother and a Siberian husky named Sky. With my experiences in Dubai and being from the cosmopolitan city of Istanbul, I have also become a world citizen so I know I’ll fit right into the Camp Rising Sun.

As a 15-year-old, I have many dreams for the future such as learning to effectively express myself in daily life, being happy, traveling to as many new places as possible and being an entrepreneur by starting my own start-up business someday. To achieve my goals, I know that I need to learn how to take care of myself, how to be an effective leader and how to overcome potential challenges I might face some day. That’s why I want to go to Camp Rising Sun. I’m hoping to acquire the skills I’ll need in the future and to make many friends in this international environment. This experience will not only be a huge step towards my goals, but also an experience which I will pass along to my friends and my family members. I can’t wait to be there!

Having to travel there from Istanbul, I would be very grateful if you could help me cover some part of my travel cost.
